ABOUT PLB MEDIATION SERVICES

Legal Pedigree. Impartial Solutions

PLB Mediation Services is a specialist mediation service operating within a practising legal practice, providing professional dispute resolution for individuals, families, businesses and employers. we have been SRA approved since 2016.

Based in Harrow-on-the-Hill, we help people address disputes in a structured, confidential and constructive environment, with the aim of resolving issues without the unnecessary cost, disruption and uncertainty that can accompany prolonged court proceedings.

Our approach combines legal knowledge with the principles of mediation: careful preparation, impartial facilitation, respectful communication and a focus on practical solutions.

WHO WE ARE

A Different Approach to Dispute Resolution

Disputes can quickly become stressful and expensive. When communication breaks down, it can be difficult for those involved to see a way forward, particularly when emotions, financial concerns, business relationships or family arrangements are involved.

Mediation provides an opportunity to step away from an adversarial approach and work through the issues in a structured setting.

At PLB Mediation Services, our role is to create the right environment for constructive discussion. We help participants identify the issues in dispute, understand the areas where agreement may be possible, explore options and work towards outcomes that are practical and acceptable to those involved.

Our work covers three principal areas:

Helping separating couples and parents address issues relating to children, finances, property and future arrangements.

Helping individuals and organisations address contractual, property, inheritance and other civil or commercial disputes.

Helping employers, employees, managers and teams address workplace conflict before disagreements become more damaging or entrenched.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have Any Question?

Is mediation the same as having a solicitor?

No. A solicitor representing a client advises and acts in that client's interests. A mediator has a different role and must remain impartial between the participants. Independent legal advice may be appropriate alongside mediation.

Does the mediator make the decision for us?

No. The mediator facilitates the process and helps participants explore issues and options. The participants remain responsible for deciding what they agree.

Is mediation confidential?

Mediation is intended to provide a private environment for discussing a dispute, subject to the applicable legal and professional framework and any circumstances in which confidentiality may not apply.

Can mediation avoid going to court?

Mediation can provide an alternative route for attempting to resolve a dispute, although it cannot guarantee that court proceedings will ultimately be unnecessary.

What types of disputes can you mediate?

PLB Mediation Services provides mediation across family, civil and commercial, and workplace matters. The suitability of mediation depends on the circumstances of each case.

Where does mediation take place?

PLB Mediation Services is based in Harrow-on-the-Hill. Contact the team to discuss the arrangements for your mediation.
Client Testimonials

What They Are Saying

From our first meeting, the mediation process was explained clearly and calmly. We felt heard throughout, and the mediator helped us focus on practical arrangements rather than allowing the situation to become more confrontational.

Mike Hardson
Family Mediation

We initially believed our commercial disagreement was heading towards a lengthy legal dispute. Mediation gave both sides the opportunity to discuss the real issues and explore a practical solution while protecting an important business relationship.

Jessica Brown
Civil & Commercial Mediation

Professional, approachable and reassuring from the beginning. We were given a clear explanation of the process and never felt pressured to reach an agreement. The mediation provided a much more constructive environment for resolving our dispute.

Impartiality

The mediator remains neutral and does not take the role of advocate for either participant.

Sensitive information should be handled carefully and within the applicable confidentiality framework.

We maintain a structured and considered approach throughout the mediation process.

Practicality

Our focus is on helping participants explore realistic options and workable arrangements.
